They have a wall thickness of about 0.05mm, are inert, usable to 280 degrees C and will withstand low medium vacuum. Precludes contamination from lubricant or leaks. PTFE sleeves are inserted between standard taper ground Glass joints. They are very thin, but once affixed they're strong as can be and require no special treatment.
These sleeves completely replace the need for laboratory grease on your ground Glass joints and prevent them from seizing 100% of time. To tighten, I recommend taking a length of rubbing hosting or rubber band, wrapping around the joint with sleeve partially tightened, and grip this way will easily slide all on. I have personally used these sleeves for years and NEVER had a problem.
